COVID-19 Update

*** PLEASE DO NOT RING THE SURGERY WITH QUERIES ABOUT THE COVID-19 VACCINE. ELIGIBLE PATIENTS WILL BE CONTACTED IN DUE COURSE ***

To help reduce the potential spread of infection, we are advising all patients to phone the surgery. Please DO NOT come to either Dundrum or Clough Surgery unless a GP has asked you to.

When you ring us, our staff will ask you some questions to determine your condition. Some of these questions may include if you have a temperature or a cough. These questions help us to determine the best action to take but also helps protect our staff and other vulnerable patients.

If appropriate, you may receive a call back from a GP or be given other relevant advice. Please ensure the practice has up to date contact numbers for you and that you are available for a GP to call you back.

If you need a repeat prescription, please ring the practice on 028 4481 1535 and select option 2. Please advise which chemist you wish your prescription to go to as you will not be able to collect it from the practice.

Coronavirus related fit notes should be downloaded from NHS 111.  Patients can self-certify for up to 7 days and self certificates can be accessed online at HMRC website.

For general Coronavirus queries, please refer to the Public Health website - htpps://www.publichealth.hscni.net/news/novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov

Anyone who has symptoms of cough/fever and has been advised to self-isolate, they can go online to www.111.nhs.uk/isolation-note

I  M  P  O  R  T  A  N  T - SHIELDING INFORMATION

Shielding is a measure to protect people who are clinically extremely vulnerable, by minimising all interaction between those who are extremely vulnerable and others.

Patients with serious underlying health conditions (listed below), which put them at very high risk of severe illness from coronavirus (COVID-19), are strongly advised to rigorously follow shielding measures in order to keep themselves safe.

Patients who meet the criteria have been identified and letters issued.

• people having immunotherapy or other continuing antibody treatments for cancer
• people having other targeted cancer treatments which can affect the immune system, such as protein kinase inhibitors or PARP inhibitors
• people who have had bone marrow or stem cell transplants in the last 6 months, or who are still taking immunosuppression drugs

3. People with severe respiratory conditions including all cystic fibrosis, severe asthma and severe COPD.

4. People with rare diseases and inborn errors of metabolism that significantly increase the risk of infections (such as SCID, homozygous sickle cell).
